Behind every full plate served through MealForTwo lies a quieter story of sustainable tourism working in service of community.
From January to April 2026, Gondwana's Self-Sufficiency Centre (SSC) at Kalahari Farmhouse near Stampriet donated 5,929kg of meat to the Gondwana Care Trust. All of it was distributed through the MealForTwo project to soup kitchens, school hostels and vulnerable households across Namibia.
To put that in perspective: 5,929kg is roughly enough for 39,500 burger patties, or close to 47,000 individual stew portions - meat that reached Namibians who needed it most, rather than going to waste.
The SSC forms part of Kalahari Farmhouse's broader self-sufficiency model. Drawing on Stampriet's aquifer system for water, the centre runs its own on-site butchery and smokehouse and supplies organic meat to Gondwana Collection Namibia's lodges nationwide. This model that keeps community food security part of the same circular system that sustains the business itself.
The meat donation didn't arrive alone. Namib Poultry contributed 336kg of chicken over the same period, and Seapride and other partners added 576kg of fish. This brings the total protein reaching MealForTwo beneficiaries to 6,841kg in four months.
It's a reminder that GCT's food security work rests on partnership: lodges, farms, butcheries and businesses each contributing what they can, so fewer Namibians end their day on an empty stomach.
