Gondwana Collection’s sustainable hospitality business strongly promotes nature conservation and social commitment in Namibia.
Private Nature Parks
Our commitment to nature conservation comes a long way
At the beginning of the 1990s the land bordering the Fish River Canyon in southern Namibia was overgrazed and barren. Ecotourism seemed to be the only sustainable form of land use with the potential to balance the scales and restore the wildlife and vegetation.
Gondwana holds Namibia’s highest eco quality seal
During the past years our sustainability efforts at the lodges have been repeatedly acknowledged with the highest seal of quality awarded by the environmental initiative Eco Awards Namibia and the Responsible Tourism Award.
Solar energy for lodges and camps in Namibia
There is plenty of sunshine in Namibia, so we have equipped almost all of our lodges with solar panels.
Sparing use of precious water
Most of our lodges in Namibia are equipped with wastewater recycling plants.
Responsible Waste Management at Gondwana Lodges
A lot of effort goes into minimising non-recyclable materials at our lodges all over Namibia and implementing sustainable measures to ensure proper waste management.
Sustainable construction methods for our new lodges in Namibia
Our latest lodges, The Desert Grace in the Namib Desert and Etosha King Nehale close to the Etosha National Park in northern Namibia were built using a unique environmentally-friendly construction method.
