At the heart of every thriving community lies the unwavering dedication of individuals committed to nurturing the next generation. At Gondwana Care Trust, we are continually inspired by the profound work being done at grassroots level across Namibia. Recently, our hearts were particularly touched and deeply moved by the incredible passion and commitment of Janely, the principal of Yahweh Pre-Primary School in Walvis Bay.
The school forms part of the Yahweh Down Syndrome Foundation, which was officially registered in 2022 with one mission at heart: to bring hope, love, and opportunity to children with special needs. Just a few months later, in early 2023, Yahweh Pre-Primary opened its doors on the belief that every child, whether special needs or mainstream – deserves the chance to grow, learn, and shine together. What began in a modest 12m container with only a handful of children has now grown into a vibrant space where over 20 learners come together each day.

Yahweh Pre-Primary is more than just a school; it’s a beacon of hope where children of all abilities are given the invaluable opportunity to learn, grow, and flourish. With an admirable focus on inclusivity, Janely and her devoted team timelessly create supportive, stimulating, and welcoming environment that not only builds confidence but also equips learners with crucial life skills that will serve them for years to come.

Recognising the school’s everyday needs, Gondwana Care Trust, with the invaluable support of our dedicated partners, eagerly stepped in to provide a helping hand. Thanks to the generous contribution of Global United FC and other compassionate sponsors, we supplied Yahweh Pre-Primary with essential stationary, as well as brand-new carpets donated by The Weinberg, which transformed the classrooms into softer, warmer, and more inviting spaces. The Delight Swakopmund provided baby chairs and a cot for the youngest attendees, while umbrellas added comfort and safety for outdoor activities.
One of the most profoundly impactful interventions was the provision of a specialised walker for a young learner diagnosed with cerebral palsy. For a child once told that milestones might never be reached, this device has unlocked new freedom and independence. Today, he can move around, play and join his friends in classroom activities with a newfound sense of joy and participation. Every step he takes is a powerful reminder that labels do not define potential, with patience, love, and opportunity, every child can shine.

The joy, renewed energy, and tangible progress witnessed at Yahweh Pre-Primary serve as a powerful reminder of the immense impact that collective care and strategic support can have on a community. It is through partnerships with incredible organisations like Global United FC, and the specialised expertise of dedicated professionals such as Mr. Oosthuizen of Oosthuizen Human Medical Orthotics and Prosthetics, that Gondwana Care Trust can continue to make a lasting difference in the lives of Namibian children.
Together, we are not just providing resources; we are building stronger foundations and illuminating brighter futures. Your support truly transforms lives.
