At the start of every year, the Trustees of Gondwana Care Trust sit down together to reflect on the year behind us and to map out how we would like the year ahead to look at. These strategic meetings help guide our focus, ensuring that the work we do remains impactful and sustainable.
As part of this process, the Trustees intentionally set aside time to visit one or two of our partner organizations. These visits allow Trustees to step beyond reports and financial statements and witness firsthand the impact of their collective efforts. Seeing the work on the ground helps remind us why these conversations and decisions matter.
This year, the Trustees visited Etuhole Kindergarten & Day Care in Havana, Windhoek. Etuhole has been a partner of the Care Trust for several years for both the MealForTwo and Back2School projects, and each visit reaffirms the meaningful role the kindergarten plays within the community. It provides a safe and nurturing environment where young children can learn, grow, and receive the care they need during their early years.
Towards the end of last year, Mee Eunike reached out to the Trust with a request for support. Etuhole was preparing to take an important step forward by registering the kindergarten with the Ministry of Education. For this to be possible, certain infrastructure standards had to be met, which meant that renovations were needed.

In response, Gondwana Care Trust contributed N$46,241.60 towards the purchase of building materials to support these improvements. It was a practical response to a clear need, aimed at helping the kindergarten move closer to meeting the required standards.

When the Trustees visited Etuhole during their strategic session, the construction had been completed. They were pleased to see the finished renovations and the tangible results of the Trust’s contribution. Witnessing the upgraded facility firsthand affirmed the value of the partnership and demonstrated how collaborative efforts translate into meaningful improvement within the community.
