On 1 May 2019, Gondwana Collection Namibia added Palmwag Lodge to its repertoire of outstanding lodges. This was very exciting news for those who have a love for the red ruggedness that is Damaraland. Furthermore, true to Gondwana’s philosophy, the investment benefits community-based tourism in Namibia, as well as conservation.
2020 brought about even better news – Gondwana is upgrading the lodge to match the Gondwana brand. All rooms will be renovated and newly equipped, the tented chalets will be replaced by fixed structures, and air conditioning will be installed. The renovation and construction works are carried out in phases in order to minimise any inconvenience to our guests.
The building project will boast post-completion ten standard rooms, ten comfort rooms, two family rooms and five guide rooms.
"We trust that our partners and guests will understand,” says Gerhard Swart, the sales manager of the Gondwana group. “Renovations have to be carried out at all our lodges at regular intervals in order to maintain the quality of our product. The alterations at Palmwag Lodge will be completed on the 11th August 2020.”
Furthermore, the lodge complex will be extended by adding eight of the popular Camping2Go self-catering tents, which can be booked from the 15th July 2020. The safari tents are equipped with four beds each and an en-suite bathroom with a shower. The kitchen offers almost everything your heart desires, including a fridge, stove, sink and all the necessary cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery on the outside terrace. A veranda and a grill in front of the tent, as well as a fire pit, invite you to spend cosy evenings under the stars.
