When visiting the capital of Namibia, it can be a bit overwhelming to find things to do. From wide open spaces to a few tall buildings and shopping malls. Here are a few things that you can see in Windhoek:
Namibia Craft Centre
With about 38 craft stalls that are all 100% Namibian. These stalls have a wide variety of crafts, from jewellery to art pieces. There is a Craft Cafe with delicious food and great cheesecake. They support Namibian micro and small enterprises, and contribute to increase income through the sale of Namibian craft.
National Museum of Namibia
An interesting place to visit and get to know Namibia. Free entrance and a great view from the restaurant on the top floor. It is just across the road of the ChristusKirsche, which is absolutely beautiful to see.
Heroes' Acre
An official war memorial of the Republic of Namibia, just outside of Windhoek. Worth a visit for an afternoon walk in Nature and viewing the impressive monument.
National Botanic Garden of Namibia
Open from 8am to 5pm, with various indigenous plants in Namibia. A stunning place to experience right in the city and easy to access.
The Village
Located in Liliencron Street, you’ll find a few beautiful spots to wander around. With great restaurants and regular events, this is a lovely spot to spend a Saturday.
These are only a few places to see and enjoy. What are some of your favourite places to visit when in the Capital? Let us know in the comments.
