Namushasha River Lodge received a breath of fresh air

    June 02, 2026

From old fashioned African Safari to sophisticated river-inspired style, Namushasha River Lodge, part of the Gondwana Collection Namibia group, has received a refurbishment. The lodge reopened on 2 April 2026 and has received incredible feedback since.

For the first three months of the year, from January to the end of March, Namushasha River Lodge was closed to the public to undergo a revamp of its main guest areas. The project began with a complete overhaul of the thirty-year-old thatch roof, which has now been fully replaced. Fresh flooring and a restructured back-of-house layout followed, bringing Namushasha’s timeless elegance into the twenty-first century.

Additional windows now allow more natural light into the curio shop and reception area, while newly installed aluminum doors add a sleek and stylish touch to the lodge’s design.

The true highlight of the newly transformed Namushasha River Lodge, however, is its interior. Inspired by the surrounding Bwabwata National Park and the Kwando River, the lodge features hues of green, blue and purple, complemented by motifs of water lilies and vervet monkeys that bring the wild beauty of the area into the lodge space.

The dining area received significant attention, including a brand-new buffet setup designed to enhance the guest experience. The new Monkey Bar is of course the centre piece of the new interior. With its bold colours, tantalising cocktails, and playful vervet monkey statues overlooking the space, the bar perfectly frames the spectacular river views.

Paired with the 24 stylish rooms, which were revamped in 2024, the new Namushasha River Lodge is ready to welcome guests to a refreshed and contemporary riverside experience.
