Overview & Location
Be as close to nature as you possibly can. Experience wild camping in Namibia at its most authentic in the 116,000-hectare Gondwana Canyon Park, close to the spectacular Fish River Canyon. Choose your own secluded camping spot in this wildlife-rich wilderness and enjoy the freedom of spending a night under Namibia’s vast starry skies.
Check in at Canyon Lodge, where you receive a navigation map and essential guidelines for camping responsibly in this fragile natural environment. Then head into the wilderness, carrying everything you need for your stay. Canyon Wild Camping is completely off-grid: there are no toilets, running water, electricity, waste bins or staff at the camping area. Campers must bring their own equipment, food and sufficient water.
Leave no trace is the golden rule. Minimise your impact, take all waste with you and leave your campsite exactly as you found it. This is wild camping in its purest form – remote, simple and wonderfully close to nature.
When you feel like returning to civilisation, Canyon Lodge welcomes you with restaurant, bar and dining facilities. You can also join a guided nature drive to discover the wildlife, landscapes and sustainable tourism and nature conservation principles behind Gondwana Canyon Park.
