Situated along the edge of a dry riverbed, amidst rocky hills, these campsites remain secluded from the nearby road, imparting a sense of solitary communion with nature amid eagles, thorn trees, and the ancient rhythms of the land. 

Refresh yourself at the communal ablution facilities located a short stroll away. As dusk falls, gather around your campfire beneath the mesmerising expanse of the southern night sky. Amidst the tranquil silence, you might catch the distant echo of the Fish River Canyon, just 17 kilometres away. 

After a day exploring the breathtaking canyon and surrounds why not let the crystal-clear water of the Roadhouse pool energise the senses after an adventurous day.

Morning/Afternoon Canyon Drive

Especially for guests who want a break from the wheel or those on a fly-in safari. You are taken to the two major lookout points along the Fish River Canyon. Our guide will tell you all about the canyon's fascinating geology. Refreshments, a light snack and all park entry fees are included.

We drive you to a spot with a grand view where you can enjoy coffee or tea and rusks while watching the sunrise against the unique backdrop of Gondwana Canyon Park. This is followed by a walk of about one hour back to the lodge. This tour does not include the Fish River Canyon.

Can campers use the swimming pool and restaurant at the main lodge?  

Yes, camping guests enjoy full access to all main lodge amenities just a two-minute walk away. This includes cooling off in the swimming pool, refuelling at the fuel station, or enjoying a meal and a famous slice of Amarula Cheesecake at the restaurant.

Is firewood or ice available to purchase at the site?

Yes, high-quality firewood, fire lighters, and bags of ice can be purchased directly at the Canyon Roadhouse reception or on-site fuel station.

What are the communal bathroom facilities like for campers?

Campers have full access to beautifully maintained, communal ablution blocks built from local natural stone. Located just a short stroll from the pitches, these modern facilities feature flushing toilets, washing basins, indoor showers with reliable hot water, and outdoor scullery stations for washing dishes. 

How many campsites are available at Canyon Roadhouse Campsite? 

The property features 12 spacious, well-shielded camping spots tucked neatly behind the main roadhouse. Situated along the scenic edge of a dry riverbed and surrounded by mature indigenous shade trees, these sites provide a peaceful, secluded experience away from the main road.

What are the vehicle requirements for accessing the campsite?

While the entrance from the main C37 road is straightforward, the internal property tracks are gravel. The campsite is best suited for 4x4 vehicles, robust SUVs, off-road trailers, and caravans capable of handling southern Namibia’s rugged terrain. Secure camper parking is also available.

Are pets allowed at Canyon Roadhouse Campsite?

No, pets are not permitted at the campsite or anywhere on the lodge property. This policy is strictly enforced to protect the local desert wildlife roaming the surrounding Gondwana Canyon Park, as well as to ensure the peace and safety of all staying guests.
