Gondwana Collection Namibia recently engaged with the Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) to discuss the future of Namibian tourism and the collective role stakeholders must play in achieving the objectives of Namibia’s Sixth National Development Plan (NDP6) introduced by President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah earlier this week.
At the heart of the conversation was a shared belief: to move tourism forward, we must move as one. As Gys Joubert, Gondwana Collection’s CEO aptly put it, "We are all in the same boat." This sentiment underscored the need for collaboration across the industry to ensure Namibia’s tourism sector thrives.
The meeting highlighted Gondwana’s rich history, core values, and the impactful work of the Gondwana Care Trust and Gondwana Academy, which continue to uplift communities and empower Namibians through skills development.
A key focus of the discussions was the effective use of data to drive decision-making and enhance tourism strategies. Additionally, the importance of engaging embassies more proactively to boost tourism was highlighted, along with the necessity for a comprehensive tourism plan to guide sectoral growth.
The meeting also addressed pressing challenges within the tourism industry and solutions centered on mobilising the sector.

Gondwana Collection Namibia and the Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) representatives recently came together to align on a shared vision for the future of Namibian tourism under NDP6.
Gondwana and NTB reaffirmed their commitment to working to overcome these hurdles and position Namibia as a leading global tourism destination. Underscoring this sentiment, NTB CEO Sebulon Chicalu said “You can count on us." This assurance reinforces NTB’s dedication to collaborating with industry players like Gondwana to drive Namibia’s tourism agenda forward.
This meeting was more than just a conversation; it was the beginning of a renewed vision to shape tourism into a powerful driver of Namibia’s sustainable growth.
Let’s build bridges, share data, collaborate across sectors, and shape a resilient tourism future - together.
