The Moon Valley outside Swakopmund witnessed an exciting moment as a record-breaking 177 trail runners converged for the 3rd Gondwana Moonvalley Marathon on 30 March 2024. Held amidst the tranquil beauty of the Easter weekend, participants embarked on a journey of athletic prowess and scenic splendour.
Among the different running categories, the 10 and 21 km routes emerged as crowd favourites, attracting seasoned athletes and enthusiasts alike. The competition was fierce, with contenders opting for shorter distances to align with their training regimens and upcoming (ultra) marathons.

Willi van Zyl and Nicole Blaauw claimed victory in the men's and women's fiercely-contested half marathons, respectively, while Abrosius Shiimi and Jivanka Kruger clinched the top spots in the 10km category. Thomas Miller and Julia Jansen van Rensburg won the gruelling 42km race. Congratulations!

Acknowledging the outstanding performances, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each category were awarded coveted Gondwana accommodation vouchers worth N$10,000, 8,000 and 6,000. In the spirited 5 km run category, fun took precedence as participants revelled in the camaraderie of the event. The prize-giving ceremony featured a thrilling raffle of Gondwana accommodation vouchers for the 5km-participants, leaving many faces beaming with joy.
The success of the marathon owes much to the dedication of participants and volunteers, whose unwavering support propelled the event to new heights. Special gratitude is extended to our esteemed media partner Nova 103.5 and Osh-Med international for their invaluable medical assistance throughout the race. Additionally, heartfelt thanks are extended to the SFC Sport Club for hosting the event and providing refreshments.
