Since 2021, Gondwana Collection Namibia is offering the public the opportunity to take part in the annual game count in the Gondwana Kalahari Park, situated 30km northeast of Mariental. This year, Kalahari Anib Lodge will host the event from 18 to 20 July 2025.

Spanning 98 km², the Gondwana Kalahari Park showcases a striking landscape of red sand dunes, golden grasses, and green acacia trees. The game count plays a vital role in helping park management monitor wildlife populations and biodiversity across the reserve which is home to iconic Kalahari species such as springbok, gemsbok, jackal, bat-eared fox, ostrich, and kori bustard, among many others.
Based on historical research of the area's native species, new stock of plains zebra, eland antelope, blue wildebeest, red hartebeest and giraffe was gradually re-introduced. The scientifically grounded wildlife management programme resulted in increased diversity of animal species, aimed at restoring the ecosystem to its natural state.
