Honouring the heart of Gondwana Care Trust

By Gondwana Collection
March 20, 2025

Some evenings leave a lasting imprint on the heart, and the Gondwana Care Trust sponsor appreciation evening was one of note. The event held at The Weinberg Windhoek was one of gratitude and the undeniable power of human kindness.

Over the years, the Gondwana Care Trust has grown into more than just a charitable initiative; it has become a lifeline for communities across Namibia. Founded in 2017, the trust has been aiding in education, environmental conservation, infrastructure development, healthcare, and food security.

From planting over 1 200 trees that will stand tall for generations to come to serving more than 350,000 meals to those in need via the Meal for Two initiative in 2024 alone, the Trust has become a beacon of hope for over 10 000 Namibians. But none of it would have been possible without the unwavering support of sponsors, partners, and benefactors.

One of the key themes of the evening was the Trust’s renewed focus on education. Through partnerships with initiatives like EduVision, the Trust has been able to bring digital learning resources to some of the most remote schools in Namibia. EduVision, a project that provides recorded lessons for grades 10 to 12 in subjects like Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, has been a game-changer for many learners.

Speaking at the event, Frikkie Louw, the founder of the Edu-Visio shared the incredible journey of how the Care Trust helped expand the initiative. “Since I attended the first meeting with Gondwana, up to this very day, I still struggle to understand—why us? What moved one of the most esteemed and influential tourism organizations to invest in one of the smallest education endeavours in Namibia?” he pondered. "We must put light in the eyes of our learners so that they can see the way of the world,” he added.

The Trust’s support has expanded this initiative to include grades 1 to 3, ensuring that even the youngest learners have access to quality education. EduVision began in 2018 with one school and now serves 21 schools and over 12,000 learners around the country.

Another highlight was the speech delivered on behalf of Anja Rohwer from the Democratic Resettlement Community’s Women’s Community Project. She spoke of the Trust’s role in providing educational opportunities, nourishment, and economic empowerment to women and children in one of Swakopmund’s most vulnerable communities. "Thanks to Gondwana Care Trust, we are not just surviving—we are growing, thriving, and securing a future where our community can stand strong on its own."

The night concluded with a renewed sense of purpose. The stories, shared throughout the night, served as powerful reminders that every act of giving creates a ripple effect that transforms lives.

The Care Trust invited its sponsors, partners, and benefactors for one simple reason: to say thank you. Thank you for believing in the power of giving. Thank you for helping change lives in ways that statistics could never fully capture.
