A value is known to be one’s judgment of what’s important in life. At Gondwana Collection Namibia, one such cherished value is balance - the balance to stand sturdily on our three pillars: social justice, financial growth and significantly, environmental concern. True to this balance, Gondwana Collection remains steadfast to its mission to safeguard nature.
Last week, our teams came together with one goal: to restore and protect the environment. In support of the nationwide clean-up campaign, held under the theme Namibia Healthy and Clean, and called for by the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism, Indileni Daniel, Gondwana Collection answered the call with enthusiasm and unity.

As guardians of Namibia’s environment, it was a no brainer that Gondwana Collection lodges would partake in this campaign. Although environmental stewardship is part of Gondwana’s everyday life, this day signified something greater - solidarity across all our properties, spreading the same green spirit from the tropical Zambezi in the north to the rugged Canyon in the south.

In Windhoek, our head office team kicked off this campaign headstrong. Arriving early in the morning, equipped with gloves, bags and the Gondwana spirit, they cleared litter from office surroundings and the nearby riverbed. Not far from the capital, The Weinberg and Okapuka teams joined forces at Avis Dam, showcasing the kind of teamwork and spirit that makes lasting change possible.

From there, efforts rippled outward. In the Zambezi region, Namushasha River Lodge, delivered 13 bags of tin after their clean-up to The Sijwa Project - an initiative that transforms waste into opportunities by repurposing recyclables into functional, handcrafted items, while providing vital vocational training for the local community.

At Damara Mopane Lodge, the team rolled up their sleeves for a dedicated clean-up, starting at the lodge’s heart and stretching all the way to the main road.
Across the country, Gondwana properties joined in: Canyon Roadhouse, Zambezi Mubala Lodge, Palmwag Lodge, The Desert Grace, Etosha Safari Lodge, Etosha King Nehale, Kalahari Anib Lodge, and The Delight Swakopmund - just to name a few.

Together, these demonstrated that teamwork drives real, visible change. By removing litter, we not only enhanced the natural beauty of our properties and strengthened tourism, but we also reinforced the deeper truth that caring for the land is a shared responsibility.
