Gondwana Collection Namibia is launching a new full-day adventure, the Damaraland Elephant Explorer, offering travellers a rare chance to track desert-adapted elephants in their natural habitat.
Hosted by Damara Mopane Lodge, the experience is led by expert local guides who reveal the wildlife, landscapes, and cultural heritage of Namibia’s rugged northwest. During this 8-9 hour excursion, guests may encounter the gentle, enduring desert elephants while exploring Damaraland’s iconic sites, including:
- Twyfelfontein, Namibia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to over 2,000 ancient rock engravings.
- The Petrified Forest, with fossilised trees dating back 280 million years.
- Burnt Mountain, known for its striking, fiery hues.
- The Organ Pipes, natural basalt columns sculpted by volcanic forces.
- Damara Cultural Village, where traditions, crafts, and storytelling bring Namibia’s indigenous heritage to life.
The tour includes morning coffee and snacks, a traditional-inspired light lunch, beverages throughout the day, and all entrance fees - promising a seamless and immersive journey from start to finish.
Our aim with this activity is to connect travellers with the deeper stories of this land. The Damaraland Elephant Explorer activity is available from 1 November 2025, at a rate of N$ 3,300.00 per person.
