VACANCY
Digital Web Developer

The Position:

As a Web Developer, the candidate's primary responsibilities include full-stack web development, encompassing skills in CSS, JavaScript, HTML5, PHP, MySQL, and HubSpot. The candidate will be tasked with integrating various APIs, including those from Hubspot, HQ Rental, Shopify, and Tourplan, among others. Beyond this point, data management and data warehousing form a critical part of the role, ensuring the efficient handling and storage of data. Additionally, the team member will be involved in setting up and assisting with digital marketing efforts and form part of the brand and marketing team, reporting to the group digital manager. A significant aspect of this position also includes managing and upskilling an intern in the team, requiring leadership and mentorship skills. The web developer will work closely with the BI team, Digital technical assistant, digital marketing strategist and the brand and marketing team.

General Scope and Purpose:

  • Website Development, Design and Re-Design

  • Front-end development (Layout and Theme implementation)

  • Ensure Website Responsiveness for all devices.

  • Manage all our Hubspot Based Websites (Gondwana-collection.com, Namibia2go.com, Gondwana.travel, NamibiaWeather.info, Namibia.org).

  • Migrate Websites to Hubspot: e.g Namibia2Go, Gondwana.travel, NamibiaWeather.info, Namibia.org (Ongoing).

  • Develop Modules (for Dynamic Content) for all the above websites:

  • Develop HubDB Powered Modules and API Modules (e.g: Black Friday Card Verification and Registration and/or Vehicle Booking Module for Namibia2Go with HQ Rental).

  • Database Management: Manage Hubspot Database (HubDB), which powers all our dynamic content and Modules.

  • SEO and Link Integrity: Ensure prime optimisation of all our pages for Google Search and Ensure Link integrity on all our websites.

  • Manage our Domains and External Hosting Environments: e.g: cPnels Accounts.

  • Manage Hubspot Automations e.g Workflows and Emails.

  • General Hubspot Web Services Management: Domain pointing and DNS Settings.

Competencies Required:

  • Server-side development (PHP, MySQL,)

Termination Agent

(Based at Namibia2Go Airport Branch)

The Position:

The Termination Agent is responsible for handing over and returning vehicles. Ensuring that guests are given a proper hand over upon collection and a throughout inspection is done upon return.

Positional Expectations:

  • Once the Rental Agents has explained the rental contract, ensure a proper handover of the vehicle is given to guests. Show guests features of the vehicle and answer any questions that they may have.

  • Upon return of the vehicle, a proper inspection of the vehicle must be done with the guests. Ensure that the vehicle is returned with a full tank of fuel and damages are noted. Remind guests to check for personal belongings, identify any items found in the vehicle and return to lost and found. Ensure the rental contract has been closed and fuel deposit is released.

  • Ensure that all vehicles that have gone through a proper inspection and job cards have been open are moved to the maintenance depot.

  • Excellent communication skills

Okapuka Lodge Manager
(Based at Okapuka Safari Lodge)

The Position:


Exercise leadership skills to supervise staff on behalf of lodge management. Overseeing and guiding overall operations of the lodge and exercise leadership skills to supervise staff on behalf of lodge management and be knowledgeable in assisting with administrative duties. Have knowledge of the various lodge operation departments to assist and organize staff during the working day when necessary. Co-ordinates and delegates the management team and ensures operational effectiveness and efficiency.

Scope and General Purpose:
  • Availability for on-call shifts and willingness to work weekends and holidays.
  • Recognize the Gondwana Philosophy regarding people, finance and natural resource management as guideline for your management decisions.
  • Ensure that all necessary administrative structures are in place to work according to the margins of the yearly budget and to fulfil the requirements of accounting, labour regulations, human resources and operations.
  • Organize and supervise all staff on the lodge to exercise their duties and responsibilities in a dedicated and productive way and to perform as a team.
  • Support staff to become the best they can be according to their abilities and in accordance with company guidelines and policies.
  • Act sensibly and responsibly in case of emergencies and situations of crisis regarding issues of health, safety and staff grievance.
    Ensure the lodge is fully operational within its operating budget and the year-end result economical.
Competencies required:
  • A passion to host our guests
  • Fluent in English. Afrikaans and German will be an advantage
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Lodge Management or Hospitality Management

1. Identifying Skills Gaps and Hiring Needs: The process begins with an internal skills audit, where Gondwana Collection's People Team and Departmental Heads assess the current talent pool to identify skills gaps or vacancies that need to be filled. This step ensures that the hiring process is targeted, addressing the specific needs of the company, whether in guest services, hospitality management, or marketing.

2. Formulate Job Profile and Advertise Job Openings: After identifying the need for new hires, the next step is to formulate a detailed job profile. This profile outlines the key responsibilities, required qualifications, and desired competencies. Gondwana Collection emphasises creating profiles that reflect not only technical skills but also alignment with their core values of environmental responsibility and excellence in service.Once finalised, the job openings are advertised on the company’s website, relevant job portals, and social media platforms to attract a diverse pool of candidates.

3. Review and Screen Applications; Create Shortlist: The Talent team would conduct a comprehensive screening of the incoming applications. During this stage, they evaluate applicants based on their resumes and cover letters, ensuring that the skills and experiences highlighted align with the job descriptions. The most qualified candidates are then placed on a shortlist for further consideration.

4. Interview Potential Candidates: The shortlisted candidates are invited for interviews, which may include a combination of phone screenings, video interviews, or in-person interviews. Gondwana Collection’s interview process typically involves behavioural-based questions to assess how candidates would respond to real-life situations, in line with the company’s philosophy of sustainable tourism and community involvement. A trial week, is a procedure where the candidate is sent to the selected lodge for 7 to 14 days for evaluation and to determine the adaptability to the team, company - as well as determining the candidate’s skill-level.

7. Evaluation of Employment Offer: Once the most suitable candidate is identified, the People Team extends an offer of employment. This offer is carefully crafted to reflect the role’s responsibilities, the company’s compensation philosophy, and the candidate’s qualifications. Candidates are encouraged to evaluate the offer and negotiate where necessary to ensure mutual satisfaction and long-term alignment.

8. Onboarding: Upon acceptance of the employment offer, the onboarding process begins.
