Gondwana Collection Namibia has expanded its partnership with OnCall (previously Dr. MacQ), a Namibian telemedicine company powered by Macquarie Medical Care, to provide guests and staff with accessible, round-the-clock medical care across its lodges.
What began as a pilot project in 2024 at the Namib Desert Collection has now been rolled out to multiple destinations, reaffirming Gondwana’s commitment to guest safety and staff wellbeing. Through this collaboration, telemedicine consultations via WhatsApp, phone, or SMS are now available to all guests staying at Gondwana properties, including those travelling with Namibia2Go and Go2 Traveller Transfers. In addition, on-site pharmacies have been established at the Canyon Collection, Kalahari Anib, Palmwag, Etosha Safari Lodge and Etosha Safari Camp, with Namushasha River Lodge joining the network by December.

The service provides guests with peace of mind in Namibia’s remote landscapes. Should someone fall ill or need urgent medical attention, the lodge team can instantly connect them to a qualified doctor from OnCall, who will assess the situation and, if required, coordinate further care or emergency evacuation. For Gondwana employees, the partnership also brings practical health benefits. Team members at lodges with pharmacies now receive company-funded consultations, ensuring timely access to healthcare while managing costs more sustainably.
According to Gondwana’s management, this initiative reflects the group’s vision to combine hospitality with care: ensuring guests and staff are supported, wherever they are. Dr. Armid Azadeh, founder of now OnCall, notes, “partnerships like this demonstrate how technology can bridge Namibia’s vast distances and make professional healthcare available to all.” The ongoing rollout marks another step in Gondwana’s mission to enhance the travel experience through innovation, responsibility, and genuine care - because wellbeing is, and will always be, part of the journey.
