The Gondwana Care Trust supports Environmental Health in Namibia by promoting sustainable practices that protect ecosystems while benefiting local communities. Through conservation initiatives, responsible resource management, and environmental education, the Trust helps safeguard Namibia’s natural landscapes for future generations. Projects include habitat protection, waste reduction efforts, and community awareness programmes that encourage environmentally responsible behaviour. By integrating conservation with community wellbeing, the Gondwana Care Trust strengthens the connection between people and nature, ensuring that environmental health contributes to long-term sustainability, resilience and opportunity across Namibia.

Sikunga Fish Guards
The Gondwana Care Trust, in partnership with the FirstRand Namibia Foundation Trust, supports the Sikunga Fish Guards in protecting fish stocks in the overfished Zambezi River. Based in the Sikunga Channel Fish Protection Area, managed by the Sikunga Conservancy, 12 permanent guards patrol and prevent illegal fishing. Since 2018, the initiative has helped confiscate over 1,500km of illegal nets and auction more than 500 wooden boats, generating additional revenue to support operations. Seapride Foods supports the guards through monthly food donations via the Trust and the guards also benefit from the MealForTwo project.
Care beyond borders: NAWA
The Namibian Animal Welfare Association (NAWA) is a membership-based organisation committed to improving animal welfare across Namibia. Operating largely on a voluntary basis, NAWA provides direct care, advocates for stronger legislation, delivers community education, and conducts outreach services for animals and their caretakers, particularly in underserved rural areas.
When NAWA teams visit Gondwana Collection lodges, the Trust supports their work by sponsoring accommodation and meals. These visits also enable outreach to surrounding towns and villages, extending the impact of their services beyond lodge boundaries, while also providing valuable awareness and education for our employees and their families.
