At the Gondwana Care Trust, we believe that opportunity has the power to transform lives. Through meaningful partnerships, we are proud to support initiatives that create lasting impact for young people across Namibia.
One such partnership recently helped make a dream come true for the Jella Charity Volleyball Academy. With transport support from Namibia2Go, the Gondwana Care Trust assisted the team in travelling from Windhoek to the MTC Dome Youth Festival Tournament in Swakopmund.
For many of the young athletes, the journey marked several firsts. It was their first trip outside Windhoek, their first time seeing the ocean, and their first opportunity to compete on a standard indoor volleyball court. Until then, they had trained in dusty streets and dry riverbeds, developing their skills without access to professional facilities or equipment.
Despite facing teams with years of experience on premium courts, the players showed remarkable determination and resilience. They adapted quickly to the unfamiliar environment, competing with confidence and heart throughout the tournament.
Their efforts earned them an impressive fourth-place finish among six teams from across the country - a remarkable achievement considering the challenges they had overcome. More importantly, the experience showed the players that talent, perseverance, and belief can overcome even the greatest obstacles.
The Gondwana Care Trust is honoured to have played a small role in this inspiring journey. Together with Namibia2Go, we are proud to have helped create an opportunity that extended far beyond the tournament itself, giving these young athletes exposure, confidence, and memories that will inspire them long into the future.
As the Jella Charity Foundation so fittingly expressed: "It doesn't matter if you start in a riverbed - with the right support, you can conquer the coast."
