Experience the Fish River Canyon – up close and carefree, without any gear! Gondwana Collection Namibia offers unique hiking tours (3 to 4 nights) in the wilderness area north of the main lookout point. Join friends and family for one of the three Fish River Canyon Trails to discover the magnificence of the second largest canyon in the world, exquisitely formed by the patient hands of time.
Luggage and equipment are conveyed between the different self-catering accommodations of the Canyon Klipspringer Camps, nestled on riverbanks or positioned on the edge of eternity. Skip stones, take a dip in the river, decipher animal tracks in the sand - and as night descends, sit around the fire under a dome of stars - relishing wilderness.
Three convenient slackpacking options are available, which allow you to see more and carry less: Klipspringer Trail (17km hike, 3 nights), Zebra Trail (35km, 3 nights), and the Fish Eagle Trail (35km, 4 nights). The minimum number of participants per group is four persons, maximum 14 persons.
Slackpacking includes a lockable storage box for gear and supplies, which will be transported from camp to camp as well as a drop off at the starting point and pick-up from the last camp for the hikers. Cooling facilities and two-way radios are available at each camp.
Due to the high temperatures in the Canyon, the Fish River Canyon Trails are only available in the Namibian winter months from April to September.
However, the Canyon Klipspringer Camps are bookable all year. The camps are a great option for non-hiking groups that want to experience one or more nights in basic but cozy facilities in the beautiful setting of the Fish River Canyon. Battlesnake and Horseshoe Camp can easily be reached by 4x4 vehicle while the 4x4 route to Koelkrans is fairly challenging and requires an experienced off-road driver.
