The Africa Economic Leadership Council (AELC) will soon host the Discover Namibia Intra-Africa Business Expo and Summit, which is a first of its kind initiative. It will take place on the 23 to 25 May 2022 at the Swakopmund Hotel and Entertainment Centre and is proudly supported by Gondwana Collection Namibia.
The purpose of this expo and summit is to connect and nurture partnerships amid African entrepreneurs and businesses; in line with the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA), which is meant to strengthen inter-African trade and to further develop the continent's economic standing within the world market. They aim to host delegates consisting of governmental officials, ambassadors and business owners’ from Africa as well as the world at large.

The AELC was founded by Heinrich Hafeni from Namibia and Percy Morapedi Koji from South Africa, who are both Mandela Washington Fellowship alumni, and manage tourism businesses within their respective countries. AELC started as a mere conversation when they both met at an alumni engagement event and it finally came to fruition in 2021, with the first launch having taken place in Swakopmund.
AELC is a Pan-African business organisation with a focus to connect entrepreneurs and business leaders in the continent. It was established under the African Union (AU) Agenda 2063 economic program: Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA); which promotes inclusive and sustainable socio-economic development for Africa. In addition, AELC would like to add a significant contribution to help realise the objectives of Agenda 2063. They both believe in the economic success of Africa. More so, they hope to work closely with their brothers and sisters in various African countries.
