Although there were few tourists in Namibia in the month of July during the third wave of the Corona pandemic, the staff of Kalahari Anib Lodge was quite busy. Embellishment and upgrading was the motto of the day.

Apart from the fact that more of the lodge employees took advantage of the government's free Covid-19 vaccination initiative - by now 89 percent of the lodge team have been vaccinated -, both the guides and the restaurant staff took part in a Training and Skills assessment to identify areas for further training opportunities.

This Tree Squirrel was a wonderful sight for some of the staff at Kalahari Anib Lodge,
who had never seen one before.

The kitchen staff participated in an internal ‘Sandwich Competition’ across all Gondwana lodges. The challenge was to prepare the most appetising cheese and salami sandwich. Look at Anib’s creation below! Guests from South Africa witnessed the mouth-watering photo session for the sandwiches. They were more than happy to taste the sandwiches to determine the winner.

The entrance to the lodge has been spruced-up by planting some Quiver trees and Camelthorn trees, provided by Gondwana’s Holoog Nursery in the Gondwana Canyon Park. Colleagues from housekeeping, gardening and the restaurant worked together on this project.

The annual game count at the Gondwana Kalahari Park took place in the beginning of July. This year the lodge staff boarded the game viewing vehicles and kept an eye out for game, as no guests were allowed to take part due to the lockdown. However, colleagues from Gondwana House in Windhoek and representatives from the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism joined the count. The results of the game count will be available soon.
