Gondwana Care Trust School Updates - June 2023

Written by Gondwana Collection | Jun 30, 2023 2:18:43 PM

The schools supported by the Gondwana Care Trust, have been receiving donations and assistance from various organisations and private persons. Over the past three months, since the last newsletter update, a few of the schools made successful progress, and we would like to highlight them in the following paragraphs:

Etuhole Pre Primary

Etuhole Pre Primary is situated in Katutura (Havana district), in Windhoek.

Etuhole Pre Primary and Day Care Center was created in 2012. Etuhole PP has 7 permanent staff members and the school venue is secured. They also have access to clean water and electricity.

In Havanna, Katutura, the percentage of children below the age of seven (7), who do not go to school on a regular basis, is increasing every day. Most of the children at this young age do not attend school at all, which leads them to wander around in the streets instead of getting the essential basics for education.

Etuhole Pre Primary welcomes about 130 children on a daily basis. Most children receive their only meal for the day at school.

Please keep an eye out for our Newsletters to follow the story of Etuhole Pre-Primary. If you would like to make a donation towards the children, or to the class rooms and the Day Care in general, please kindly click on this link:

Or make a donation to these banking details, with "Etuhole" as reference.

Thank you very much!

Natasha Pre Primary

Please note that the kindergarten has been renamed to: Haingura Day Care and Pre-Primary School CC.

Project Co-ordinator: Ms Meriam Haingura

Haingura Day Care and Pre Primary School, previously known as Natasha Pre Primary School, was blessed with a donation from Mr and Mrs Brad and Jill Reynolds last year. Thank to this donation, Meme Meriam was able to add a brand new classroom to the school. With the new furniture being added, Haingura Day Care was able to complete the project and they are now able to store their books in the class room.

Haingura Day Care is a beneficiary of the MealForTwo Project. Children receive a small breakfast and lunch so that they can grow with all the nutrition that they need to attend school and function on a day to day basis. Visit the Care Trust website here, to read more about the MealForTwo Project, and the schools that benefit from the daily meal donations.

You can get involved by donating to the Gondwana Care Trust and stipulating the reference as MealForTwo. If you would like to enquire on more details please feel free to contact the team via email, at caretrust@gcnam.com

The Lighthouse Community Hope Center – Windhoek

Most of the children visiting The Lighthouse Community Center, come from disadvantaged and broken homes. Namibian Schools close at 1:00 PM, and children are often on their own for the rest of their day. When the children arrive at the Lighthouse, they are welcomed with a hot meal, and a safe place to study and play.

The Lighthouse Team encourages the children to develop healthy social relationships that will guide them into their adult years, which includes choosing good friends and making wise choices.

The Gondwana Care Trust, through the MealForTwo Program, assists The Lighthouse Community Hope Center with groceries on a monthly basis, so that the children can enjoy a warm and healthy meal every day.

The Center received a donation in the form of pallets, from CB Enterprises and Okapuka Safari Lodge. Thank you very much for trusting The Gondwana Care Trust to enable schools like The Lighthouse Community to grow and develop, and to provide a safe space for children. We cannot do it alone!

The children were so happy to harvest their veggies! They built the gardens and look after the plants, in order to collect the success of their labour.

By donating to the Gondwana Care Trust, we are able to support and to assist this project with educational goods and requests, such as pallets, to enable the children to create artifacts and contribute to the center with garden maintenance.

Thank you again for your assistance.
