Join the 10th Standard Bank Klein-Aus Vista MTB Challenge & Trail Run in the unique mountain world of Aus in the Gondwana Sperrgebiet Rand Park on 20 and 21 March 2021. Event organiser Piet Swiegers chose this year’s date for the mountain bike race with the Namibian and South African cycling schedules in mind; and took the Covid-19 situation into consideration.
With incomparable vistas and world-class trails, the Klein-Aus Vista Mountain Bike Challenge 2021, a sought after event on the Namibian cycling calendar, will once again be the ultimate test to endurance and skills in this cross country style marathon race.
Participants can choose to compete in an ultra-marathon (97km) or full marathon (64km); each consisting of two stages. The compulsory time-trial takes place on 20 March and marathon categories on 21 March with 60 percent of the route consisting of single tracks. Furthermore, there is also a half-marathon (27km, 70% single tracks, no time-trial). There will be four water and marshal points along the route providing beverages and food. The kids’ race consists of mostly single-tracks (18 km route).
For those who prefer to use their own feet instead of a bicycle, a strenuous 23km trail mostly on single tracks is offered, with an elevation gain of 500m.
The routes of the different event categories lead through a pitoresque landscape of granite mountains, rugged valleys and meandering dry riverbeds. Many spots along the way afford grand views of the Namib.
Due to the current situation, only a limited number of participants will be allowed, and Covid-19 safety protocols should be adhered to at all times.
