Namibia has the landscape, both physical and economic, to support the transition towards green energy. Gondwana Collection Namibia is proud to be part of the trailblazers integrating renewable energy into the tourism industry, while contributing to national goals on green energy transition.
From 9 - 10 September 2026, Swakopmund hosted the African Green Industries Summit (AGIS) at the Swakopmund Hotel & Entertainment Centre. The summit brought together leaders, investors, innovators and industry stakeholders to explore renewable energy, green hydrogen application and sustainable industrialisation.
Gondwana Collection was pleased to support AGIS as its official travel partner. The company participated in the summit's exhibition, giving its team and opportunity to engage with delegates, and share the tourism industry’s perspective on Namibia’s green energy transition.

Many of Gondwana Collection’s lodges are in remote, rural areas where conventional energy infrastructure can be limited. This makes reliable and sustainable energy particularly important.
Energy is fundamental to lodge operations, powering communications and essential utilities from lighting and refrigeration to water provision for kitchens, laundry and air conditioning. Reliable energy also supports the teams working at remote properties and helps ensure guests enjoy a comfortable and seamless stay.
Today, 88% of Gondwana Collection’s lodges operate on hybrid energy systems incorporating solar power. Dune Star Camp, The Reverie, Omarunga Epupa-Falls Camp and the newly developed Luna Namib Collection operate completely off grid.

For Gondwana Collection, green energy is about innovation, efficiency and offering our guests an enriched hospitality experience.
The connection between AGIS and Gondwana Collection’s own sustainability journey is particularly evident at Kalahari Anib Lodge, where Gondwana Collection is hosting the ‘HygO project’ which explores an innovative energy solution by transforming wastewater into green energy.

The conversation about Africa's green future is already underway. At Gondwana Collection, we are exploring how the tourism industry can offer collaborative opportunities to translate that conversation into action.
