If you didn’t know, now you do… we have been moonstruck all week! This is to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, which took place on 20 July 1969. In accordance with the previous partial lunar eclipse on Tuesday 16 July 2019, it is only appropriate that I share a few exquisite properties from which you can gaze at the moon from the comfort of your cocoon.

The perfect full-moon escapes:

Namushasha River Villa

Perfectly located in the north-eastern corner of Namibia in the Zambezi Region, on a private channel in the Kwando River is the Namushasha River Villa. It is an intimate hideout, nature paradise and a gateway to the Bwabwata National Park. So, when night falls swiftly and you happen to be visiting during a full moon, delight in a sundowner or scrumptious dinner on the villa’s deck, while you wait to appreciate the sight of the full moon.

Namib Dune Star Camp

In the ancient Namib Desert you can unlock the wheels of your movable bed and position it on the room’s outside deck to gaze at the show that stars put on, or the flaunting moonlight without having to vie for centre stage with city lights. It will be you, stars, moonlight and your special company at the Namib Dune Star Camp.

Desert Whisper

Mountaintop, spectacular landscape and sweet whispers from the Namib Desert is just what you need to break away from the busyness. An exclusive scenic drive within the Gondwana Namib Park will leave you in awe. When night falls and it happens to be a magical warm summer evening coupled with a full moon, dip into your private plunge pool or sit on the terrace and soak in nature’s wonder, at Desert Whisper.

The Desert Grace

The striking sunset hues illuminating the Namib Desert glimmer on your skin while you enjoy your E-bike escapade or private plunge pool with a pink G&T in one hand, and an excellent read in the other. Welcome to The Desert Grace, where you can appreciate the full moon in the desert landscape from the comfort of your elegant, stylish chalet.

I hope you’ll be traveling to Namibia soon and of course during a full moon. If you wish to plan your visit to coincide with a full moon, please familiarise yourself with the full moon calendar to make your visit worthwhile.
