The weather is definitely something we constantly think about without even noticing, before we get dressed in the morning we go online or watch the news for the weather report. We wish for sunny skies to get that perfect tan, or enjoy the beach and when it’s too hot we long for rainy days.

Right before you leave for holiday you search every possible site to get an indication of what you need to pack and what the weather will be like right?

I want to make use of this opportunity today to introduce you to our very own weather man. He makes sure that you stay up to date with the weather around the country.

Jens Viëtor owns and operates the Namibia Weather Network website with 18 weather stations across Namibia.

The Home page has a map of Namibia that shows all the weather stations and where they are situated with the current temperature of each station.

When you look at the tab on the left hand side, you can click one of the weather stations to be directed to the page and get all the info you need about the weather of that specific weather station.

On each weather stations' page, you can see the current temperature, the sun and moon rise and set times, wind speed, rain and temperature highs and lows.

When you look at the top screen there are a number of options to choose from to get information. Under the forecasts tab, click on the YR.no 10 day forecast tab to have an idea of what the weather will be like for the next 10 days. Click here to have a look.

My favorite part of the website? The webcams! On the webcams you can see exactly what the weather is like at that specific moment, or to see what the animals on Namib Desert Lodge are up to. If you feel like you’re missing out on a cocktail with a view as the sun is setting, the Swakopmund jetty webcam or the Etosha webcam will help ease your sorrows.
