Founded in 2008, the non-profit organization Mammadu Trust has its headquarters in Windhoek.  The Center is located on a half-acre plot in theslums of Otjiomuise, a township situated on the farthest outskirts of the capital city of Windhoek. The center, built in 2011, takes care of all the basic daily needs of children: Providing clean water, nutritious meals, ensuring personal hygiene, providing pre-school and regular education, and spaces for play and sport.

The center hosts under-aged children who live in states of abandonment and deprivation (children of destitute parents, HIV positive parents, parents who are abusing alcohol, etc.) and provides a safe and welcoming place where they receive food, study in peace, and play away from external dangers.

Mammadu welcomes 63 children and adolescents in two daily shifts:

  • Pre-school children, between the age of 4 and 6 who attend from 7:30 am to 1 pm in the morning
  • Older children, up to 13 years of age, who attend from 1 pm to 5:30 pm in the afternoon.

The Center is open from Monday to Friday throughout the year and is closed during summer school holidays (mid-December to mid-January).

Mammadu rewards the children with a school trip at the end of the year. For the past 2 years, this year-end trip was not possible due to the pandemic and this year a few children were able to enjoy a well-deserved break away to Etosha. This trip is meant to reward the children for their school year and encourage them to stay at school and to study as best as they can.

Thanks to our sponsors, the Gondwana Care Trust was able to assist Mammadu with a 2 night's stay at Etosha Safari Camp (accommodation and meals included) for 24 children, volunteers & driver. Thanks to Etosha Safari Camp, the children were able to join on a game drive into the park.

Mammadu is also a beneficiary of the MealForTwo Project and receives goods such as chicken, meat, dry goods and vegetables twice a month to sustain a healthy diet for more than 63 children daily.

Mammadu is also part of the Back-to-School Christmas Bags to assist the children who need supplies the most urgent.

Thanks to Checkers Maerua Mall, the children were also able to enjoy a hot dog during the December celebrations!

Thank you for all the donations that enable us to share the love with the children with a once in a lifetime trip.
